The Pantomime Dame

A Panto Day Docu-Feature

Celebrate Panto is proud to announce a brand new docu-feature on the pantomime Dame for Panto Day 2015.

Arguably the most iconic and beloved of all pantomime stock characters, the Dame is the driving force of modern pantomime. This brand new docu-feature examines practice, process and performance and explores what it means to play Dame today.

The Pantomime Dame features a wide range of contemporary Dames and encompasses issues such as training, role definitions and character construction as well as advice for future Dames and many an anecdote about performance mishaps.

The docu-feature will go live on Celebrate Panto’s YouTube channel on Panto Day itself: Friday 11th December.

Three weeks ahead of its premiere, Celebrate Panto have released a teaser trailer that features, amongst others, Dames including the Lyceum Theatre, Sheffield’s resident Dame Damian Williams and author of The Panto Book Paul Harris:

Panto Day Founder Simon Sladen said:

“Panto Day’s docu-features are a great way to examine contemporary pantomime and capture the very best practice and practitioners for future generations. Building on from the successes of Pantomime Titles Today (2013) and Music in Pantomime (2014), 2015’s docu-feature on Dames is set to be our biggest and best yet!
