40 Years of the Kenneth More Theatre Pantomimes!

005 The Kenneth More Theatre in Ilford celebrates 40 years this week! On 31st December 1974 the Theatre opened with “The Beggar’s Opera” and officially opened its doors on January 3rd 1975. kmtdick1` The first pantomime was in 1975-76 and there has been a pantomime here ever since. To celebrate, this year the KMT presented “Dick Whittington”, and once again I’ve costumed the show as I have done for the past thirty five or so years! kmtdick3 kmtdick2 The Theatre celebrated with a party amongst the cast, the crew, the theatre staff, board of governors and civic dignitaries who all watched the panto on Friday Evening. Steven Day the manager was there to invite the Mayor to cut the cake, and I was there with my brother Vivyan, the former manager- for thirty-eight years. 006010 019 (2) The pictures above show Steven with The Mayor of Redbridge, and Natalie Cleverley and myself. This year marks her 33rd Pantomime here at the Kenneth More Theatre! A great night- thanks to everyone involved- and here’s to the future of local pantomime at the Kenneth More Theatre in Ilford for another forty years!

To celebrate the end of this year’s Pantomime run, The KMT Steven Day & Sally Woodfield hosted a party for Cast, Crew and the volunteer staff who have made it all possible.
